The importance of play, identity, culture
DILI, Timor-Leste — World Mosaic’s founder was invited by the Timor-Leste Ministry of Education to present insights on early learning and the HAAP project at the national early education conference in Dili this month, sharing design principles and early classroom findings with educators, Ministry of Education colleagues and local development partners.
The presentation focused on what makes early learning programs genuinely work and scale across local communities: play couched in local culture, story and language, teachers as orchestrators, offline-tolerant design, and evidence gathered in real classrooms rather than assumed from afar. The conversations that followed will inform the program’s next phase.
