Shuru: a new beginning
NEW DELHI, India — India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 places Early Childhood Care and Education at the centre of the nation’s learning agenda. This month World Mosaic published its white paper introducing Shuru, a holistic, culturally-grounded approach to Foundational Literacy and Numeracy for Indian early learners aged 3 to 8, aligned to those goals.
Shuru, meaning “beginning”, is not another digital tool. It is a comprehensive Human-Centred Design (HCD) process and resultant ecosystem for children, teachers and parents: play-based, multilingual and reflecting local identity. The white paper is available on request for education leaders and school systems.
